UCT accounts

Access to any of the university's resources is via a valid UCT accountThis includes systems like OpenClinicaREDCapSharePoint, OpenMRS, UCT Libraries, etc.

A UCT account can be a:

à Staff number (e.g. 01435819)

à Student number (e.g. STWANN003)

à Third-party number (e.g. T0034518)

Non-UCT collaborators: Third-party accounts

In the case of collaborators who are neither employed by, nor registered students at UCT, and therefor do not have UCT accounts, a third-party account must be created for them by your department's third-party administrator.

(Here is a list of third-party administrators and here is the form they will need to sign and submit to the third-party administrator.)

Note that when a new third-party account is created, the temporary password for this account is automatically set to the last six digits of the person's South African ID number. In the case of foreign collaborators, the temporary password for the account is automatically set to their entire passport number. The third-party must set their own secure password immediately using the Password Self-Service facility. In case of problems with UCT account usernames or passwords, please contact the HelpDesk via email or on +27 21 650 4500.
